Looking for Hilton Moorea reviews and wondering if it’s worth the price tag? We visited the Hilton Moorea and we’ve got all the answers you need!

Mike and I have dedicated extensive time to exploring Moorea, making multiple visits to the island, typically opting for month-long stays.

Throughout our numerous trips, we’ve chosen a variety of lodging options, ranging from AirBnbs and hotels to luxurious overwater bungalows.

On our recent Moorea adventure, we fell in love with the Hilton Moorea, prompting us to share our outstanding experience with you.

Hilton Moorea Review Overview

Set on the northern part of the island, the Hilton Moorea Lagoon Resort & Spa enjoys a prime location by a private lagoon and offers spectacular views of the mountains.

While it ranks among the more expensive options on the island, with rates ranging from $400 to $900 a night depending on the day and month, this hotel distinguishes itself as one of the best on the island.

With its exceptional amenities, attentive staff, beautiful rooms, and strategic location, this hotel is an ideal destination for a dream getaway.

We dedicated a significant portion of our time, indulging in the resort’s amenities and had the privilege of touring numerous rooms, including their breathtaking overwater bungalows.

Our time at this hotel was truly incredible, earning it a flawless 5/5 rating from us for its stunning rooms, impeccable service, and various other outstanding features we will dive into below.

Keep reading as I explore in detail why the Hilton Moorea deserves its status as one of the top accommodations on the island.

Hilton Moorea: Pros

As full time travel bloggers, we have traveled the globe and experienced a wide range of hotels and accommodations. Through our travels, Mike and I have developed a keen eye for exceptional hotels.

The Hilton Moorea has secured a perfect 5/5 rating from us, thanks to its many strengths and attention to detail that make it stand out.

Dive into the details below as we highlight what sets this hotel apart and why it deserves such high praise.

Stunning Rooms

The hotel rooms boast ample space and there are a variety of different rooms and bungalows to choose from. These include rooms with a private pool, garden views, lagoon views, suites, and overwater bungalows.

💡Pro Tip: While the overwater bungalows are the priciest on the island, their premium quality justifies the cost.

Having stayed in an overwater bungalow at Sofitel Kia Ora Moorea, another resort on the island offering similar accommodations, we found it to be a nice option but not nearly as marvelous as the ones at the Hilton Moorea.

What makes the Hilton’s overwater bungalows stand out is the variety of choices available, such as the King Overwater Bungalow, the King Panoramic Overwater Bungalow, and the King Premium Overwater Bungalow with Panoramic View.

Each of these overwater bungalows provide breathtaking views of the turquoise blue waters, featuring unique elements like views of the surrounding mountains or full panoramic scenery

No matter which room or bungalow you select, a feeling of spaciousness is present, enhanced by a warm and welcoming French Polynesian atmosphere.

This is achieved through exposed beams, luxurious linens, floral decor and numerous windows to capture the magnificent views.

Furthermore, the bathrooms in each of the bungalows are beautifully designed and thoughtfully crafted, enhancing the overall visual appeal of each room.

    Excellent Service

The staff at the resort were great, particularly the bartender/server and towel attendant who consistently displayed remarkable attentiveness.

During our time at the resort, we had a super friendly server who shared an interesting detail with us, $2 for every person staying in the resort per night is donated to support ocean conservation

We love this initiative! It’s so important to protect our oceans and it adds a meaningful touch to looking out over the gorgeous ocean views. Knowing that the resort actively contributes to the preservation of the waters and the marine life we observe adds to the overall experience.

When selecting upscale accommodations, expectations for exceptional service are high, and the Hilton Moorea not only met but exceeded our expectations with their accommodating and friendly staff.

From a warm welcome to considerate touches like full service right at the beach cabanas, meaning we can sip and relax without lifting a finger.

    Delicious Food & Drinks

The Hilton Moorea offers an array of dining and beverage choices with four distinct establishments: Arii Vahine, Eimeo Bar, Rotui Bar & Grill, and the Toatea Bar & Creperie.

Our dining experience at the onsite restaurant was superb!

Mike had the lamb chops and I enjoyed a delicious pesto pasta. We also shared a Caesar salad and treated ourselves to some tasty drinks, with the piña colada ranking among the best on the island.

Having restaurant and bar choices with delicious food and drinks right at your hotel is incredible because it eliminates the need to leave your hotel multiple times a day to seek out nearby restaurants.

A unique feature that stands out is the Totatea Bar & Creperie positioned in the center of the dock near the overwater bungalows, featuring a glass bottom for a captivating view of the ocean and marine life below.

As the sole overwater dining venue on the island of Moorea, this bar and creperie earns its place on your bucket list, offering breathtaking views of the lagoon sharks below.

Beyond its mesmerizing setting, they also offer truly delicious crepes and tasty drinks.

We would be remiss if we didn’t mention one of the best meals offered at the Hilton Moorea though, and that’s their massive breakfast buffet.

There are countless stations scattered throughout the dining area including different sushi, juices, breads, pancakes, salads, fruits, and an omelet station.

Make sure to arrive feeling hungry. There are endless options that will satisfy your palate and the cherry on top is the incredible outdoor seating to enjoy your meal and take in the gorgeous scenery.

Similar to many restaurant meals on the island, this lavish breakfast comes with a relatively high cost but we think it’s worth it!

💡Pro Tip: Hilton hotel credit cards that include Hilton Gold Status enjoy complimentary breakfast which can result in substantial savings on breakfast while you explore Moorea.

If you’re looking to venture beyond the hotel for tasty food and drinks in the area, there are several restaurants located in the nearby bays.

Some delicious restaurants nearby include a Thai establishment, a seafood restaurant, and even a charming cafe. Having plenty of restaurants nearby outside of the hotel enhances the overall convenience and location of the Hilton.

    Countless Activities

The Hilton Moorea has countless awesome activities for their guests to enjoy!

The hotel provides kayaks and snorkeling gear, and many guests eagerly took advantage of these offerings.

We can attest to how amazing their equipment is and the variety of water activities adds to your experience for when you crave more than simply relaxing by the shore.

Mike sits under an umbrella on the beach at the Hilton Moorea with overwater bungalows in the background.

The beach is not only beautiful but also wonderfully secluded. While there are numerous cabanas available, we recommend securing a spot early or scout one out from the restaurant to ensure a comfortable space under the shade.

If you wish to book a tour, it’s conveniently handled with their agents at the front entrance. You can work with the Hilton Moorea tour desk to embark on fun excursions like snorkeling, 4×4 atv adventures, and many other unique activities around the island

We strongly advise arranging your tours in advance to secure your spot, as many have limited capacity and fill up rapidly.

Another fabulous activity to embark on is to hit one of the many hiking trails nearby. As avid hikers, having a handful of trail options in close proximity to the hotel really stood out to us as an added bonus.

A woman kayaks from the beach into the lagoon at the Hilton Moorea with overwater bungalows in the distance.

In fact, Mount Rotui, one of our favorite hikes and overall views of the island of Moorea is just down the road from the Hilton Moorea. This hike is very strenuous and only for experienced hikers or climbers.

If you’re looking for something a bit more mild, we highly recommend making your way to Col Des 3 Pinus – Three Pines Pass for an easier trail that still has some amazing views of the island.

Besides incredible hiking trails, being near the best beach on the island, Ta’ahiamanu Beach, is another major standout feature. It’s the perfect place to unwind by the shore or snorkel around and take in the sights of vibrant tropical fish.

Adding to the array of activities, just a short 5-minute walk away lies one of the finest scuba dive shops on the island.

This offers a convenient option for passionate divers looking to embark on an epic underwater adventure in the beautiful clear-blue waters off of Moorea.

    Amazing Amenities

There are many amazing amenities provided by the Hilton Moorea.

The first that stood out to us was a pearl shop which is conveniently situated nearby. This is great for those wanting to purchase a local pearl! Being near the hotel made us feel confident in the quality of their products and the prices were better than a lot of other places on the island.

One of our favorite things ever when it comes to the Hilton Moorea is the marine and aqua-diversity center located right on the premises.

Guests can plant their own coral in the reef through the Eco Reef Moorea program! We thought this was a super cool experience and an incredible way to help preserve our oceans and assist in helping our coral reefs to thrive.

A view of the pool at the Hilton Moorea with sun loungers and umbrellas on the surrounding deck.

The pool is also beautiful with ample seating and tremendous views. We loved relaxing here and cooling off in the perfect waters.

💡Pro Tip: A pool renovation is on the horizon, aiming to improve the aesthetics and accommodate more guests in the near future.

Another fantastic amenity is the Hilton Moorea offers private complimentary parking which is hard to find on the island. There’s also on-site security, adding a reassuring touch even if it may not be imperative.

If you are seeking a massage while staying at the hotel, the spa is truly outstanding and offers exceptional wellness treatments.

There’s also a fitness center available, if you are seeking a quick workout while on vacation. Take advantage of the yoga classes if you want to unwind and find some zen or hit some balls at the on-site tennis court.

Overall, the Hilton Moorea provides numerous fantastic amenities. Whether you’re in the mood for shopping, exploring the impressive on-site facilities, or even trying your hand at coral planting, there’s a wide array of options to keep you entertained while on vacation in the French Polynesia.

    Hilton Moorea: Cons

There are hardly any significant downsides to this hotel. That’s why we granted it an impressive 5/5 rating due to its thoughtful details, extensive amenities, and exceptional service.

The only potential drawback is its slightly greater distance from the ferry terminal compared to the Sofitel hotel but with plenty of options for getting around Moorea this shouldn’t be a problem.

We see the Hilton Moorea’s location within the bay as a positive aspect as the water tends to be calmer, creating a more favorable atmosphere and environment.

Another minor drawback is that the WiFi at the Hilton Moorea tends to be somewhat slow and inconsistent, although this is pretty common with WiFi services across islands. All the more reason to unplug and relax in paradise!
