1. Naoussa – Where To Stay In Paros For First-Time Visitors

Tucked away in the northeastern corner of the island, Naoussa is a charming harbor village with traditional Cycladic whitewashed houses. Naoussa is the second largest town on Paros after the capital Parikia, located 7 miles (11Km away).

Naoussa is the best place to stay during your first time in Paros, Greece

Naoussa is a great area to stay in if it’s your first visit to Paros or if you have limited time on the island. This pretty town is easily walkable and there are so many attractions within a short distance.

However, due to Naoussa’s growing popularity as a tourist destination, traditional Greek tavernas are being replaced by chic cocktail bars and nightclubs, and prices are going up. So, if you’re looking for a more authentic, laid-back Greek feel, read a little further down this post to find your perfect spot on Paros.

Where To Stay In Naoussa

📍 Hotel Papadakis
Although you can find more luxurious accommodation in Naoussa, Hotel Papadakis has an elegant, modern, and simple atmosphere. You’ll struggle to find somewhere that offers better value for money.

Hotel Papadakis is in a traditional building, just 650 feet from Naoussa town center. Guests can enjoy an outdoor pool and charming rooftop terrace with a bar, overlooking the Aegean. All rooms are air-conditioned, with free Wi-Fi, a mini fridge, a TV, and a private bathroom.

📍 Saint Andrea Seaside Resort
Naoussa has many luxury hotels to choose from, but this 4-star resort would be our personal choice. Saint Andrea Seaside Resort is wonderfully positioned overlooking Naoussa Bay and Kolympithres Beach. It’s at a convenient distance from Naoussa village center, but still quiet and secluded. There is also an airport shuttle that operates to and from the hotel.

All rooms are equipped with modern amenities, such as flat-screen TV and Wi-Fi. Each room also has a private porch with sea views. Guests can enjoy the lagoon-style swimming pool and pool bar, as well as a buffet breakfast every morning.

Visit the ancient Venetian Fortress in Naoussa, Paros

Best Things To Do In Naoussa

✔️ Venture out to a Venetian fortress
Located opposite the harbor, the Venetian Castle of Naoussa (or Kastelli) was built in the 15th-century Somaripa dynasty of Venice to protect the town from pirate attacks. Today, the ruined fortress is half submerged and only accessible by a narrow stone walkway that gets splashed by waves, so be prepared to get wet!

✔️ Visit a winery
After a long day of swimming or hiking, what could be better than sipping on a refreshing glass of Cycladic wine? The Moraitis Winery has been in the same family for 3 generations and all the grapes are grown locally in a 24-acre vineyard just outside of Naoussa. Located just behind the town’s main church, this is a small but delightful winery.

2. Parikia – Where To Stay In Paros Without A Car

Also known as Paros Town or Hora, and built on the site of the original ancient city, Pairikia is still the capital of Paros Island today. With about 4,000 year-round inhabitants, Paros is the main commercial and cultural hub of the island, and also serves as Paros’ main port.

Parikia is the capital town of Paros, Greece

Pairikia is built in the shape of an amphitheater around the harbor with the typical Cycladic architecture of whitewashed, flat-roofed houses with painted doors and windows. And you can’t miss the large iconic windmill at the entrance to the port.

Pairikia is the best place to stay on Paros if you don’t have a car because it’s so well-connected. There are many island-hopping excursions leaving the busy harbor every day and the regular bus service to Naoussa only takes 20 minutes.

✔️ Find the perfect sunset spot
Parikia is west-facing, so there are many spots around the town to watch the sunset over the Aegean Sea. While most people like to get comfy at a waterfront bar and watch the sunset from there, we recommend walking up to the Church of Saint Constantine. This church sits on a small hill and can be easily accessed from a staircase leading up from the harbor.

Is It Better To Stay In Naoussa Or Parikia?

This entirely depends on what you’re looking for. These two towns have quite distinct flavors: Parikia is more bustling and upbeat, while Naoussa is more laid-back and intimate.

There is always something going on in Parikia as it’s the main cultural and transport hub of Paros island. But this also means that it’s the main thoroughfare for large crowds of tourists.

Naoussa is more elegant and upscale with many luxury hotels and villas, however, this makes it more expensive than Parikia. So, if you’re traveling on a tighter budget, you’ll find better deals in Parikia, then you can always visit Naoussa on a day trip.
