One of the most confusing things about teaching with Qkids is understanding the hours.
Unlike many other online English teaching companies, Qkids offers a unique teaching schedule and limited hours. In this post, you’ll learn exactly what hours are available to teach with Qkids and how you can maximize your paycheck.
Qkids Hours 2021
All Qkids classes last for 30 minutes with a 10-minute buffer in between. That means instead of fitting two classes into one hour, you can fit two classes into an hour and twenty minutes.
Below, I’ve listed the available class times for every Qkids lesson. These are listed in Eastern Time but if you navigate below, you’ll find a conversion chart to help you better understand the hours for your specific time zone.
Time slots available 7 days per week (EST): 6:30am – 7:00am, 7:10am – 7:40am, 7:50am – 8:20am, 8:30am – 9:00am
One of the biggest differences between Qkids and other online English teaching companies is the number of available hours.
Many companies offer 12+ teaching hours each day. Qkids does not.
With Qkids, you’ll have the option to teach a maximum of 38 classes per week (approximately 19 hours total).
If you decide to teach all 38 classes each week, you can expect to earn approximately $1640 per month.
Additional Summer Hours
In addition to normal hours, Qkids also opens additional time slots during the summer holiday (end of June to September 1).
On average, Qkids opens an additional 25 classes each week in the summer (about 63 classes total).
So, unlike normal hours, you could earn up to $2700 per month with Qkids during the summer.
Qkids also periodically opens more time slots during Chinese New Year (usually for a month in February). They even offered more classes during the pandemic, so always keep an eye out to add more lessons to your schedule.
Does Qkids Require Minimum Teaching Hours?
Qkids does require minimum hours from every teacher. They expect their teachers to work or open slots for at least 6 hours each week.
Many other companies also require minimum hours, but several do not. If you’re looking for ultimate flexibility, Qkids might not be your first option.
Can I Take Time Off?
You can absolutely take time off from teaching with Qkids. You can tailor your schedule to fit your needs as long as you have 6 hours of classes open each week.
If you need to take extended time off or cannot open 6 hours during a specific week or weeks, you’ll need to let Qkids know at least 2 weeks in advance.
The best part is that Qkids is really flexible and they allow their teachers time off whenever needed.
Does Taking Time Off Affect Booking Rate?
I know what you’re thinking.. if I take time off, will it affect my bookings when I return? This is one of the most common questions I get asked with any online English teaching company.
Since you are booked by the system rather than the parents of the students, taking time off from working with Qkids will not affect your booking rate.
Canceling Qkids Classes
The cancelation policy at Qkids is one of the best qualities of this company. They are so flexible with their teachers and they understand that LIFE HAPPENS.
Instead of making it difficult to cancel classes, Qkids just asks that teachers alert the company 6 hours prior to the class start time. You will not be penalized for canceling class as long as you cancel 6 hours prior to class or before.
However, don’t take the flexibility for granted. You will only have 6 cancelations per contract.
The Wrap-Up: Qkids Hours 2021
I hope this guide helped to clarify the available teaching hours with Qkids. Although the hours can be a bit strange, this is an excellent company to work for that allows for flexibility and a great work-life balance.
